At this moment in time, the ideas I have for my syllabus are still floating around in my head in quite an unorderly fashion, and are, as most syllabi say, subject to change! So far, I am exploring ideas of culture, identities, and contrastive rhetoric. I want to start off the semester with a four week unit designed to have students reflect on themselves, their identities, and how writing plays into this and their future goals. The consecutive unit would help students to develop their voice and emerge as writers in English, and the final unit would be dedicated to students taking on a writing project of interest where they can practice putting their voice into the world. I’m still researching and thinking about individual assignments, so there isn’t too much more to say at this moment.
