Students have created some stunning projects for our Reading Literature for Future Teachers class. Recently, they chose a young adult/children’s book author to study and then created multimodal projects representing the texts. Here are a few of my favorites:

Morgan Minor filmed her dance group’s representation of being silenced, a powerful idea from the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

Erina Dominick and Kristie Weibling created a “mixed tape” of the songs featured in Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor & Park. The book is set in 1986 and many readers may not be familiar with the songs that are so important to these characters. Erina and Kristie’s soundtrack helps to bring the story to life.

Chia Lor developed a website featuring author Sharon Creech.

Ariela Cruz & Rob Hopkins wrote and recorded an original song based on the book Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli.

Thankful to students for all the creative work they put into our class. More examples can be found here: http://www.kimjaxon.com/engl341/
