Investigating 21st century literacies is something that proved beneficial to my continued learning curve. It allowed me to step away from my old-timey ideas about what literacy should look like, and realize how lucky kids are (at least those who have access and agency) to grow up in a time when it looks like there are no limits to what a person can do. There are so many new ways to have what I think of as authorship to ideas. There is no time like now to form collaborative societies where diversity is treasured. There appears to be an infinite number of ways to express oneself, to tell stories, to perform literacy.

The off-side to this infiniteness is the educator. If an educator can’t keep up with the ever-changing technologies, how can he teach in this vastly different climate? This need to keep up-to-speed seems like it will silence and/or push out older teachers, who might not be up-to-speed, but nevertheless, have some education left in them. What happens to them?
