Literacy Narrative-Interview with my Mom

What kinds of writing did you see your parents, siblings, and other family members doing as you were growing up?  What did they read, where, and when?

“My mom always really enjoyed reading novels. Even though we moved often my mom always kept tons of books because she really valued them. If she ever had a moment of free time she would pull a book out of her purse and start reading. She also really enjoyed writing her own stories whenever she had the time, which wasn’t much as a single mom.

Unfortunately, my mom’s love for reading and writing didn’t really rub off on me or my brothers. We were always way more occupied with television. My mom would always try and get us to play Scrabble so there was a little bit of influence there. Also, my two little brothers read a lot of comic books while they were growing up.”
